~*~ Flowers ~*~

So I was at a mom-to-mom sale a couple of weeks ago and one of the vendors wanted to order a bulk order of my little applique flowers. Which is fine, but yikes has it been time consuming. And I'm not even done yet :p. I have 50 done out of 80. I suppose I could work harder at it but really who wants to spend ALL day making the same flowers over and over again. My fingers are itching to make something different haha. Well here is a sampling of the colours and styles of flowers that I have made.

I still need to make like 20 white ones and then 10 more random colours and what not. It's likely I'll just make more pink ones.

If you are interested in making the six sided flower you can find the pattern here. [http://www.patonsyarns.com/pattern.php?PID=3096&cps=21191 ] I do tend to change the patterns a bit to suit my own needs, for example I cut out the HDC on a lot of my flowers. But following the pattern does make very cute flowers. Now the five sided flowers I got out of my how to crochet book {Crochet by Anne Akers Johnson}. Which by the way is one of the BEST how to crochet books I've ever seen.

So I promise some much more interesting patterns and projects once I'm done all these flowers haha.

Wedding Cake

So my husbands brother is getting married New Years eve, in Hawaii (yes I'm going!!!!) and I just adore his fiance!! She is this super sweet Japanese lady, who also loves to crochet. We have so much in common. So I'm throwing her a personal shower this Friday. And I found this delightful wedding cake amigurumi pattern. So of course I made it for her. But first a little tribute to wedding cakes :)

This is my wedding cake. I love red and dragons. Thankfully my husband also loves dragons ahahaha. Honestly I LOVE this cake!!

This cake is from a very dear friends' wedding. I was one of her bridesmaids. I also really like how this cake looks. And I love the stand!!!

Okay and now for the cake you've all been waiting for.... dum dum dum

I found this super easy pattern at  [http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80305AD.html ]. I added my own yarn the same colour as the flower to each layer of the cake to add more detail and some more spice to the cake. Overall I think it turned out really well and I am quite pleased with it. I think it'll make a great little centre peice for the shower on Friday :)

First Blog Post

So I've been reading tons of crochet blogs and I was really inspired to create my own. I've been crocheting for two years and I finally feel like I'm half decent now lol. I am looking forward to showing you my own stuff that I've made and to hook you up with awesome web pages that I've found for crocheting. My favourite thing to make in the whole wide world is hats, cuz I love crocheting in rounds.

For starters this is my wonderful cousin modeling the rat tail hat that I made for him (at his request). The story is that when he was little he had a rat tail (which looking back I think is kinda gross now lol) and he missed his rat tail so much that he wanted it commerated in his hat. haha

Pretty much I made a regular hat and then braided a section and added it to that hat like you would add fringe on a scarf.

Another one of my favourite hats that I made is for my best friend Sarah, she works with children a lot so I figured I'd make her a funky rainbow hat, with a pom pom. [instructions are great from this website http://www.kid-craft-central.com/pom-poms.html]

Because of the type of pattern this wool had I actually found the hat to look better with the wrong side out, but that's just me personally I guess.
